Parental Rights Alert
Dear Fellow Homeschooling Parents,
During the past few years the State of New Hampshire has repeatedly tried
to intervene on our rights as parents. Both of the last two terms, there
have been bills that sought to prescribe exactly how and what we were to
teach our children. This last summer saw a Judge order a student to attend
public school because her religious views were too strong. And, I expect
that you, as I, are always conscious of your response to the disobedience
of your children public for fear of the Department of Children, Youth and
Families (DCYF).
I have proposed a parental rights amendment to the Constitution of New
Hampshire (CACR 29) to enumerate the rights that the Supreme Court of New
Hampshire has always recognized to be implicit in Part 1, Article 2 of our
Constitution. The amendment simply state, "Parents have the natural right
to control the health, education, and welfare of their children; therefore
the state shall not abridge the role or responsibility of parents in
controlling the health, education, or welfare of their children." The
public hearing on CACR 29 is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 7 at 1:15 PM, in
Room 206 of the Legislative Office Building.
I urge you all to make your voices known. The Constitution is yours. It
is yours to interpret, yours to amend, and yours to enforce. It is your
tool to restrict the actions of those in government. It is time for you to
take back the reins of government.
If enough people show up, then they may have to move the hearing to
Representative's Hall. Last year we wowed them with HB367 and HB368. Let's
do it again.
