Christian Home Educators of New Hampshire

This past year has been largely characterized by change and growth for our Board and for our activities.   Thanks to the efforts of Dan Kimble our web site has been completely redesigned and we have more regular contact with our community of parents.  This was essential during some of our legislative battles which seemed to persist without deference to our organization and other priorities.  On that front we saw victories in the demise of bad legislation and the failure of bad rule-making, all of which left NH parents with about the same level of regulation as existed before.  Homeschoolers are indebted to our HEAC reps  Mike Compitello and Mike Benik and to many regular moms and dads for the role they played in stopping the Department of Education attemp to regulate beyond the law.   We feel our prayers have been answered and our voices heard.  With that said, we have endured unprecedented attacks from bureaucrats and legislators for the past four years that constantly threaten our freedoms, making NH a real battle ground site in the nation-wide fight for parents rights. Because of this HSLDA has raised NH to red status even though our laws have not changed substantially.

Our Annual (spring) Convention was also a big success, thanks to Dave Menard,  the Maxwell Family, our coordinators and volunteers.   New to our calendar is the Fall Convention, which we hope will also provide inspiration, support and training to help parents with the tough job of educating at home.

As I approached the end of my term as President we have made succession planning a top priority for the Board of Governors.  Joining us in the coming year are Scott Marston, Mike Koski, and Eric Schrowang to help us action our renewed vision to provide ministry, support, and leadership at the state level for the NH home school community.  We are grateful to Dave Wheeler, for his many years of faithful service on the Board and look forward to his continued counsel as alternate.   As Dave Menard assumes the role of Treasurer we also want to thank our Vice President Philip Hills for handling our finances for the past several years.

I am excited to see young men stepping forward with a passion for home education and the opportunity we can afford parents who strive to raise up children in The Faith, free from government intrusion and secular indoctrination.  Their energy, ideas, and action will certainly make NH a better place to raise a family.  I look forward to working alongside them and hope we continue to see more parents involved in in the mission of Christian Home Educators of NH.

In His Service,
Jim Parison – President
